BMW R100

M-E 102

A Classic Reimagined

One of the most significant upgrades is the complete front-end conversion.

The original fork has been replaced by a modern upside-down BMW fork assembly, bringing contemporary levels of rigidity, braking performance, and front-end feedback to a motorcycle designed more than forty years ago.

The philosophy behind this modification closely mirrors BMW’s own approach to product development. Just as BMW continuously improves its motorcycles generation after generation while retaining their core identity, this build applies forty years of engineering progress to a timeless platform.

Several carefully selected components contribute to the motorcycle’s timeless appearance.

The classic Monza-style fuel cap brings a touch of vintage racing inspiration, while the subtle black-and-white paint scheme pays tribute to BMW’s traditional design language.

Nothing on this motorcycle feels excessive; every modification was chosen to enhance the original machine rather than overpower it.

To complete the build, miniature 3-in-1 rear lights were integrated into the tail section, combining tail light, brake light, and turn signals in an exceptionally discreet package. At the front, compact transparent indicators maintain the minimalist aesthetic. A brushed stainless-steel homologated exhaust system adds the finishing touch, delivering a refined boxer soundtrack while perfectly matching the motorcycle’s clean and purposeful appearance.

The riding position is completed by a set of clip-on handlebars that perfectly capture the spirit of a traditional café racer.

Mounted between them is a Motogadget Tiny speedometer, combining minimalist aesthetics with modern functionality. The cockpit remains clean and uncluttered while providing all essential information in a compact package.

Introduced during the golden era of BMW’s air-cooled boxers, the R100RT was powered by a 980 cc flat-twin engine producing approximately 70 horsepower.

Known for its exceptional reliability, strong mid-range torque, and effortless long-distance capability, the R100 remains one of the most desirable classic BMW platforms. Even by modern standards, its performance is more than enough for spirited road riding, while the distinctive character of the boxer engine continues to make every ride memorable.

The handcrafted seat is based on our plug-and-play conversion kit, available directly through our webshop.

A removable rear seat cowl completes the café racer silhouette and can be installed or removed in just a few minutes. With the cowl fitted, the bike takes on a classic single-seat racing look; remove it, and it becomes a practical two-seater ready for everyday riding.

A modern LED headlight provides excellent visibility while maintaining a classic appearance.

At the rear, miniature 3-in-1 LED lights integrate tail light, brake light, and indicators into an incredibly discreet package, allowing the rear of the motorcycle to remain clean and elegant.

The stainless-steel exhaust system, developed in partnership with HATTECH, complements the build perfectly.

Its clean lines follow the motorcycle’s silhouette while delivering a deeper and more characterful boxer soundtrack, all while maintaining a refined and balanced aesthetic.

At the rear, the motorcycle features our signature bolt-on rear frame conversion, a hallmark of many Meister Engineering builds.

One of the greatest advantages of this system is that every modification remains fully reversible. Should the owner ever wish to return the motorcycle to its original configuration, the factory rear section can be reinstalled without cutting or permanently modifying the frame.

This approach allows the bike to enjoy a completely different personality while preserving its heritage and long-term value.

This build preserves everything enthusiasts love about the R100 while adding the precision, braking performance, and handling expected from a much newer motorcycle.
