Honda CB450 Meister

A Timeless Café Racer Spirit

A classic Honda, reimagined with restraint. This CB450K2 was never meant to become a modern custom motorcycle. Instead, the goal was to create a machine that feels authentic to its era — a motorcycle that could almost have left a small custom workshop sometime in the early 1970s.

Before any customization began, the motorcycle underwent a thorough mechanical and cosmetic restoration. The engine was completely serviced and inspected, while countless hours were spent bringing the machine back to excellent condition. The polished engine covers and restored brightwork contribute to the authentic vintage appearance.

The original rear frame was shortened and fitted with a handcrafted rear loop. This modification allowed us to create a cleaner silhouette while retaining practicality through a comfortable two-person seat. The result is a lighter and more balanced profile without sacrificing everyday usability.

To refine the overall proportions, a shorter front fender was fabricated. This subtle modification visually lightens the front wheel and gives the motorcycle a more agile stance without losing the unmistakable classic identity of the CB450.

At Meister Engineering, not every project aims to reinvent a motorcycle. Sometimes the greatest challenge is knowing what not to change. This CB450K2 demonstrates how thoughtful craftsmanship and subtle modifications can create a machine that feels both unique and timeless.

The original handlebar was replaced with a slightly lower chrome unit, offering a sportier riding position while remaining faithful to the era. A compact analogue speedometer and a Bates-style headlight were chosen to preserve the timeless appearance of the front end and keep the cockpit as clean as possible.

Introduced at the end of the 1960s, the Honda CB450 was one of the most advanced middleweight motorcycles of its time. Powered by a 444cc parallel-twin engine featuring a double overhead camshaft (DOHC) cylinder head, it earned the nickname "Black Bomber" and quickly established Honda as a serious competitor against larger European manufacturers. Producing around 45 horsepower, the CB450 was remarkably sophisticated for its era. Its torsion-bar valve springs, high-revving twin-cylinder engine and impressive reliability made it one of the most technically advanced motorcycles available in its category. More than fifty years later, it remains one of Honda's most iconic classics.

The fuel tank was refinished in a deep British Racing Green, a color that perfectly suits the motorcycle's classic proportions. To maintain the connection with the original Honda design, the factory-inspired gold stripe was retained, creating a beautiful visual link with the iconic "450 DOHC" emblems found on the side covers.

A bespoke brown leather seat was designed specifically for this build and paired with matching handlebar grips. These warm tones complement the green paintwork beautifully while reinforcing the vintage atmosphere of the motorcycle. Every detail was selected to feel period-correct and understated.

Many custom motorcycles strive to look radically different. This project followed the opposite path. Every modification was carefully considered to ensure that the motorcycle still feels like a Honda CB450 — only cleaner, more elegant and more purposeful.

A custom motorcycle built with respect for its history.
Classic, elegant, and ready for another lifetime on the road.
