BMW R80 R
M-E 117
This BMW is a perfect example of what makes the Meister Engineering philosophy unique.
Rather than commissioning a complete motorcycle build, the owner carefully selected and ordered the components directly through our online store before assembling the motorcycle himself. Once the project was completed, the bike returned to our workshop for final tuning, technical inspection and setup, ensuring that every detail met the standards we expect from a Meister Engineering motorcycle.
To reinforce the aggressive yet elegant aesthetic, the chassis, engine and wheels have all been refinished in black. The monochromatic treatment highlights the iconic shape of the boxer engine while allowing the painted bodywork to become the visual centerpiece of the motorcycle. The contrast between the black mechanical components and the satin green paint gives the bike a refined and understated character.
At the front, the motorcycle is equipped with an RCO fork conversion, fully approved through our Swiss DTC homologation program. Beyond the visual transformation, the upgraded front end dramatically improves precision, stability and rider confidence. The modern suspension allows the motorcycle to perform far beyond the capabilities of the original setup while remaining fully road legal.
This project perfectly illustrates another side of Meister Engineering. Not every customer wants a complete turnkey motorcycle. Some riders enjoy building their machines themselves and want the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.
This project started with a BMW R80R, one of the most modern evolutions of the legendary BMW air-cooled boxer engine. Equipped from the factory with the Paralever rear suspension and original wire-spoke wheels, it already offered an excellent riding platform while preserving the unmistakable character of the classic boxer twins.
At the rear, the motorcycle features our homologated Meister Engineering rear frame kit combined with a custom seat and a removable seat cowl. This solution allows the bike to switch easily between a single-seat café racer configuration and a practical two-seat setup. The slim proportions and flowing lines create a balanced silhouette while maintaining everyday usability.
The bodywork is finished in a distinctive matte olive green complemented by subtle black pinstriping. Combined with the black Monza fuel cap, this color scheme creates a timeless military-inspired look while remaining elegant and sophisticated. It is a finish that feels equally at home on a vintage motorcycle or a modern custom build.
The lighting package combines performance and minimalism. At the rear, compact Motogadget 3-in-1 indicators integrate tail light, brake light and turn signals into a clean and discreet package. At the front, Motogadget M-Blaze bar-end indicators are paired with Motogadget bar-end mirrors, creating an exceptionally clean cockpit. A Gazzini LED headlight completes the front end with a modern lighting signature and excellent visibility.
Behind the classic appearance lies a thoroughly modern control system. A Motogadget Motoscope Pro instrument cluster provides all essential riding information in a compact and elegant format. As with all Meister Engineering projects, the electrical system benefits from careful attention to detail, ensuring reliability, ease of maintenance and a clean overall presentation.
Through our online store, customers can access the same high-quality components used on our own builds, then rely on our workshop for final inspections, engine checks, safety verification, tuning or administrative homologation procedures.
This BMW stands as proof that a custom motorcycle can be both a personal achievement and a professionally finished machine.
