BMW R80
M-E 119
A Timeless BMW Icon, Reimagined
Based on a BMW R80RT Twinshock, this project started from one of BMW’s most iconic air-cooled platforms. With its twin rear shocks and legendary Snowflake wheels, the original machine already possessed all the ingredients that made the classic boxer models so desirable: reliability, comfort and effortless long-distance capability.
For this build, our objective was simple: preserve the unmistakable soul of the R80 while refining every detail to create a cleaner, more purposeful and more contemporary interpretation of the original motorcycle.
Beneath its classic appearance lies a thoroughly modern chassis.
The front end is equipped with our homologated upside-down fork conversion, transforming both the precision and confidence of the motorcycle. Combined with high-performance Brembo braking components, oversized floating brake discs and CNC-machined mounting hardware, the result is braking performance that feels decades ahead of the original machine.
This upgrade dramatically improves stability, steering precision and rider confidence, while remaining visually coherent with the motorcycle’s classic design.
This R80RT Twinshock perfectly illustrates our philosophy: remove everything unnecessary, improve everything that matters.

A Motogadget Motoscope Pro instrument cluster provides all essential information in a compact and elegant format, while modern switchgear and a separate high-performance brake master cylinder significantly improve ergonomics and braking feel.
Suspension duties are handled by a pair of fully adjustable YSS rear shocks, providing improved ride quality, better control and a level of refinement far beyond the original equipment.
The rear section has been redesigned around our Meister Engineering homologated rear frame, giving the bike a much lighter silhouette while maintaining perfect proportions. The minimalist rear fender and discreet license plate holder reinforce the stripped-back appearance without compromising functionality.
The visual identity of this build revolves around a timeless BMW colour scheme: deep gloss black highlighted by delicate white pinstriping.
To reinforce this classic aesthetic, the engine has been refinished in satin black, while the cylinder fins have been carefully brushed to create contrast and showcase the iconic architecture of the boxer twin. The wheels have also been finished in black, allowing the mechanical details and polished aluminium components to stand out even more.
One of the most distinctive details is the return of the classic aluminium airbox, replacing the later plastic version. Combined with the matching aluminium starter cover, it brings back the elegant mechanical feel of earlier BMW airheads and perfectly suits the vintage-inspired spirit of the motorcycle.
While the motorcycle embraces a classic aesthetic, numerous details bring the riding experience into the modern era.
As with all Meister Engineering builds, the entire electrical system has been redesigned and rebuilt from scratch.
The CNC-machined fuel cap and billet aluminium BMW emblems add subtle but meaningful details that elevate the overall finish and demonstrate the attention devoted to every component.
The seat is handcrafted in full-grain leather, offering both durability and comfort while adding a premium touch that perfectly complements the character of the air-cooled boxer.
The result is a motorcycle that feels unmistakably BMW, yet sharper, lighter and more rewarding to ride. A machine that respects its heritage while benefiting from the best modern components available today.
Classic, understated and timeless — exactly what an air-cooled BMW boxer should be.
