BMW R100 RS

M-E 130

Originally introduced at the end of the 1970s, the BMW R100RS quickly became one of the most iconic motorcycles ever produced by BMW.

One of the greatest limitations of vintage motorcycles is often found in their chassis and suspension. To address this, we equipped the bike with our proprietary DTC-homologated rear subframe and a fully adjustable Öhlins rear suspension system.

At the front, a modern upside-down fork conversion dramatically improves precision, stability and rider confidence. Combined with our fork conversion kit, the motorcycle feels planted, predictable and agile while maintaining the elegant proportions of the original BMW.

The result is a motorcycle that remains comfortable for long rides and two-up touring, yet feels remarkably sporty when the road begins to twist.

One of the defining visual elements of this build is the combination of brushed aluminium and deep metallic blue.

The fuel tank features a brushed aluminium finish on its upper section, contrasted by a glossy blue side panel and a delicate gold pinstripe. To reinforce this visual identity, we handcrafted custom brushed aluminium fenders that echo the same material and finish found on the tank.

The result is timeless, understated and unmistakably premium.

The motorcycle is equipped with our signature Hattech exhaust system.

Handcrafted brushed stainless steel silencers feature visible welds that proudly showcase the craftsmanship behind every component. Their clean lines perfectly complement the minimalist silhouette of the bike while producing a deep, mechanical soundtrack that remains refined and enjoyable over long distances.

Performance, aesthetics and character come together in one of the most important elements of the build.

Classic design meets modern technology.

The cockpit features a Motogadget Chronoclassic instrument, blending vintage aesthetics with contemporary functionality. Modern switchgear, integrated electronics and a powerful LED headlight provide reliability and usability expected from a modern motorcycle while preserving the clean, uncluttered appearance of a classic BMW.

Every wire, bracket and component has been carefully considered to maintain the purity of the design.

Combining long-distance comfort with impressive performance for its era, the R100RS represented the perfect grand touring machine. Equipped with the legendary 980cc boxer engine, large 40mm carburetors and matching 40mm exhaust system, it remains one of the most desirable Airheads ever built.

For this project, our goal was to elevate every aspect of this amazing basis. The result is a lightweight, sharper, more capable machine that preserves all the performance enthusiasts love about the R100RS while delivering a riding experience that feels decades ahead of its original design.

Power is nothing without control.

The modern Brembo braking system transforms the riding experience, offering stopping power and modulation that the original motorcycle could never deliver. Gold anodized fork tubes, matching brake calipers and the custom reservoir create a subtle visual link across the front end while serving a clear functional purpose.

This is the kind of upgrade that doesn't simply improve performance—it changes the way you ride the motorcycle.

At the heart of the motorcycle sits BMW's legendary 1000cc boxer engine.

The engine was completely rebuilt and refinished, with the block treated in satin black while the cylinder fins were carefully brushed to highlight the classic architecture of the air-cooled twin. Combined with the larger 40mm carburetors and exhaust system specific to the R100RS, the engine delivers strong torque, smooth power delivery and the unmistakable character that made these motorcycles famous.

This is an engine designed not only to be admired, but to be ridden.

While many custom motorcycles become less practical as they become more beautiful, this R100RS follows the opposite philosophy.

The custom diamond-stitched seat remains comfortable for both rider and passenger, making the motorcycle perfectly suited for everyday riding, weekend escapes and long-distance journeys. It retains the versatility and comfort that made the original R100RS such a success while offering dramatically improved handling, braking and overall riding pleasure.

This is what we love most at Meister Engineering: preserving the character of an icon while removing the compromises that came with its age. The best of both worlds—classic BMW soul with modern confidence.
